  • LSE and LSESU have partnered with St Mungo’s homelessness charity to expand the opportunities to research, volunteer and fundraise for homelessness services, to help end rough sleeping and to influence and shape national policy. LSE students can donate £5 to St Mungo’s.

  • LSE Students started a petition to Remove Anti-homelessness bars from LSE Benches.

 

The Homelessness Project at LSE:

  •  In consultation with St Mungo’s, the Project will provide the community with fundraising opportunities, volunteering roles, research opportunities and training for staff.

  • StreetLink was also suggested as a great way students can help people who are homeless around them. The project works as an app whereby the user sends an alert to the local authority or outreach service if they are concerned about someone sleeping rough.

  • UCLA Financial Wellness Program: The mission of UCLA’s Financial Wellness Program is to empower all Bruins to confidently navigate their finances in a way that supports their overall well-being. This program fosters financial literacy skills through workshops, coaching and online educational efforts.

  • IMHOME: a UCLA CPO program designed to improve educational and career opportunities for the women and children at Triangle Christian Shelter located in South Central Los Angeles.

  • The Housing Security Deposit Award program may provide partial or full financial support to enrolled students who need assistance in paying security deposits to secure off‐campus or on‐campus housing

  • Emergency Housing: The Basic Needs Center’s emergency housing program provides short-term emergency housing to students who find themselves without housing or who are faced with the loss of housing

  • The Basic Needs Emergency Rental Assistance program may provide partial financial support for students who need assistance paying rent

  • Jana Foxe ’16 is a Community Fellow with Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE), a Brown student-led org which provides a structured opportunity for students to work with homeless populations and to engage in related advocacy efforts.

  • HOPE uses a mix of direct community service, advocacy and awareness-building to work towards ending homelessness in RI.

  • Work with the RI Homeless Advocacy Project, participate in their Nighttime Outreach program (directing rough sleepers to shelters), serve hot meals at the City Meal Site, write articles for Street Sights newspaper. Also organize an annual fundraiser variety show called Beats for Blankets.
