Housing First Initiative
Implementing a “Housing First” approach prioritizes providing stable housing to individuals experiencing homelessness without preconditions such as sobriety or participation in treatment programs. This approach is effective in reducing homelessness and improving overall well-being. WAM also has an affordable housing project that will help combat homelessness to a large extent.
Coordinated Entry Systems
Establishing coordinated entry systems that streamline access to housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. These systems prioritize matching individuals with appropriate housing and support services based on their needs, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. This resonates well with WAM’s Matching engine or the kiosk concept.
Innovative Financing Mechanisms
Exploring innovative financing mechanisms such as social impact bonds, public-private partnerships, and community investment funds to fund homelessness prevention and housing initiatives. These mechanisms can leverage private capital and philanthropic resources to support innovative solutions to homelessness.
Peer Support Programs
Implementing peer support programs that engage individuals with lived experience of homelessness as mentors and advocates for others experiencing homelessness. Peer support programs can provide valuable social connections, encouragement, and practical assistance to individuals navigating the challenges of homelessness. Something that would make them feel purposeful and a part of the society. They can be seamlessly integrated into WAM’s hydroponics initiative, providing a holistic approach to addressing homelessness and promoting empowerment. Engaging individuals with lived experience of homelessness as mentors and advocates within the hydroponics program. Helping in skill building, social connections, confidence, financial, etc.
